Why Do People Bite Their Nails
Have you ever given a thought about why do people bite their nails? This is considered as a universal habit that starts from a young age. Nail biting also scientifically accredited as chronic onychophagia, represents a routine tendency to bite fingernails or toenails If a person suffers from any sort of mental disorder, then also they will be seen engaged in this particular act. Mostly, this habit develops in the child when they are at the age of seven to ten years. It is seen that in children the nail biting occurs when they are engaged in some work like watching television, reading books etc. Many times, the person is not conscious of the fact that they are biting their nails.
Most of us do not know the reasons that why do people bite their nails? The people who are engaged in this particular act do not know the after effects of it. The things that come with this particular act are awful grooming, unappealing hands or feet, injury on all sides of nail area etc which can lead to an attractive look .In some cases the person also gets affected by the mouth infections. This is caused due to the transfer of the germs and bacteria from the nails. This habit can also give way to dental disorders like gum infection ultimately damaging the teeth.

It is generally perceived that nail biting is a habit that sets in because of boredom, stress or sometimes worries. There are some situations where you will find that the person starts chewing their nails automatically. It has been found in a research that most of the teenagers suffer from this particular problem. It has also been found that the children and the adults are more affected by this particular problem.
